A crafted cylinder lump of dielectric can be used to generate simple antenna from a puck to a rod. The use of dielectric means there are no metalisation losses except for those in the excitation elements. usage 1GHz upwards to mm waves.

The cylindrical dielectric antenna is excited by a probe inserted into the dielectric at radius.

The probe is axial to the cylinder at a radius. The probe length is the z offset for E calculations.
