A crafted rectangular lump of dielectric can be used to generate simple antenna. The use of dielectric means there are no metalisation losses except for those in the excitation elements. usage 1GHz upwards to mm waves.

Note:

The rectangular dielectric antenna is excited by a probe inserted into the dielectric.

The probe can be offset in the x, y directions of the ground plane. The proble length is the z offset for E calculations.
